We stayed with Terry & Sindy for one night in their lovely little B&B and were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Terry & Sindy are more than capable hosts and extremely nice people to boot. Case in point, Sindy was kind enough to drive us into Pooley Bridge to meet our friends as we were running late on arrival. ‘La Ruche’ is more of a retreat than a B&B. Extremely quiet, both beautifully furnished and decorated, and just about as comfortably appointed as it’s possible to be. Your room is a bedroom/bathroom combo linked to the house but completely self contained, with your own key to come and go as you please via your own private doorway. There’s plenty of wardrobe space/drawers (if you’re planning on staying for a good few nights) a good selection of tea & coffee, and a very stylish wide screen TV. The en-suite shower room/toilet was exceptionally clean and stylishly set out (just the ticket after a hard days slog on the fells) with wonderfully fluffy towels and a heated towel rail. As for the bed? To call it “comfortable” just wouldn’t do it justice! We had a superb nights sleep & honestly didn’t want to get up in the morning 🙂 Breakfast is served in the main house, with a positive array of options to suit your individual taste. We plumped for the full English, and it was fantastic. The view from your table is green in the extreme, due to a combination of both sweeping fields, and Terry & Sindy’s beautifully landscaped garden. Also, having the ability to park on the driveway is a real plus as parking in and around Pooley Bridge is rather expensive and at a premium to say the least. What really made La Ruche special for us was the attention to every detail and Sindy & Terry’s genuine warmth & hospitality (musn’t forget Meg the collie either!). We highly recommend La Ruche & will most definitely return in the future. Sindy & Terry, thanks for having us, keep up the good work, and take care. The very warmest of regards, Peter & Clare.
